A-5000 Slave Valve — The “Master Switch” for Eaton Transmission High/Low Range Shifting
The A-5000 slave valve is the master switch for high/low range shifting in Eaton heavy‑duty transmissions, a key component drivers use every day. Mounted on the transmission housing, it connects the shift knob to the range cylinder.
How it works: When shifted to low range, the slave valve opens the low‑range air line and exhausts high‑range air, moving the range cylinder into low gear. In high range, it reverses the action for smooth shifts. The full cycle takes just 0.1–0.3 seconds.
Common failures include spool wear, seal aging and internal leaks, leading to slow shifts, free play, hard engagement or gear jumping. The Tritenco A‑5000 uses high‑airtight casting, precision cavity machining and premium seals to deliver OEM‑level tightness, stable performance and long service life under heavy‑duty conditions.

A properly functioning slave valve is essential for keeping your transmission operating at peak performance.
